GREENLIGHT Eco Action at Nikola Karev
Students at DSU-RCSOO Nikola Karev Strumica took part in an eco-friendly school clean-up activity within the GREENLIGHT project, promoting environmental responsibility, waste reduction and sustainable habits.
As part of the GREENLIGHT – Generating Renewable Energy Education Network: Leading Initiatives for Green & Harmonious Tomorrows project, DSU-RCSOO Nikola Karev Strumica, North Macedonia, organised an eco-friendly school environment clean-up activity with the active participation of students.
The activity aimed to translate GREENLIGHT’s sustainability principles into practical everyday action by encouraging students to take responsibility for the cleanliness, protection and improvement of their school environment.
Working together, students contributed to cleaning and improving shared outdoor areas around the school. Through their direct involvement, they experienced how individual and collective actions can support a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable school community.
The initiative reflects the GREENLIGHT Green Management and Environmental Implementation approach, which encourages project partners to complement education on renewable energy and sustainability with practical environmental activities. In this context, the clean-up action helped strengthen students’ awareness of environmental protection, waste reduction, responsible behaviour and care for shared spaces.
The activity also supported GREENLIGHT’s wider objective of fostering sustainable habits among young people and encouraging them to become environmentally responsible citizens. By connecting sustainability education with hands-on participation, Nikola Karev demonstrated how environmental awareness can be integrated into everyday school life.
This eco-action represents another practical contribution by DSU-RCSOO Nikola Karev Strumica to GREENLIGHT’s environmental, educational and community-engagement objectives and highlights the importance of local actions in building a broader culture of sustainability.
