GREENLIGHT: Generating Renewable Energy Education Network Leading Initiatives for Green & Harmonious Tomorrows

Minho University Hosted the GREENLIGHT Online e-Learning Training Sessions

The University of Minho (UMINHO) successfully delivered the GREENLIGHT Online e-Learning Training Activity on 20, 22, and 27 April 2026 as part of the GREENLIGHT Erasmus+ Project.

Organised under Work Package 5 (WP5) – Boosting Visibility, Ensuring Impact, the online training aimed to promote the project's educational resources while supporting the professional development of teachers and educators in the field of renewable energy education. The activity welcomed teachers, trainers, school administrators, and other educational professionals interested in integrating sustainability into teaching and learning.

Held across three online sessions, the training combined presentations with practical demonstrations, interactive discussions, collaborative exercises, and question-and-answer sessions. This structure enabled participants not only to explore the project's outputs but also to exchange experiences and reflect on how the developed resources could be applied in different educational settings.

A major focus of the programme was improving participants' understanding of energy literacy and encouraging the integration of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) into educational practice. Throughout the sessions, participants examined innovative teaching approaches that support environmental awareness and sustainable development.

The training introduced the educational materials produced within WP2, particularly the Renewable Energy Resources Database. Participants explored its content and discussed practical ways of incorporating the database into classroom activities, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary lesson planning.

Special attention was also given to the digital outputs developed under WP3. The GREENLIGHT e-learning platform, interactive learning modules, and digital educational games were demonstrated in detail, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience with the tools and consider how they could enrich student engagement through technology-enhanced learning.

Another key component of the programme centred on the WP4 Green Energy STEAM/STEM educational materials. Participants analysed sample STEM lesson plans, discussed effective instructional strategies, and collaborated on adapting activities to suit different educational levels and classroom contexts.

The final session explored the dissemination dimension of the GREENLIGHT project, emphasising how educators can contribute to increasing the project's impact through school-based initiatives, digital communication, awareness campaigns, Science Cafés, and collaboration with local education communities.

By the end of the training programme, participants had strengthened their knowledge of renewable energy education, improved their confidence in using GREENLIGHT's digital and pedagogical resources, and gained practical ideas for integrating sustainability and energy literacy into their own teaching practice. The activity also reinforced collaboration among education professionals and supported the wider dissemination of the GREENLIGHT project's results.
