GREENLIGHT Tree Planting and Greening Initiative
MSKU and ŞMÇAİHL students participated in a tree planting and school area greening activity within the scope of the GREENLIGHT Project. The activity aimed to raise awareness of environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and environmental responsibility.
Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (MSKU), within the scope of the GREENLIGHT – Generating Renewable Energy Education Network: Leading Initiatives for Green & Harmonious Tomorrows project, coordinated an activity in cooperation with Menteşe Şehit Mehmet Çetin Anatolian Imam Hatip High School (ŞMÇAİHL), involving students in tree planting and greening of school areas.
Organized in line with the Green Management and Environmental Implementation approach of the GREENLIGHT Project, the activity aimed not only to enable students to learn about environmental sustainability theoretically, but also to experience it by directly participating in practical activities. With the support of the project team, students planted saplings in suitable areas around the school, contributing to the development of green spaces.
The activity is directly related to the core objectives of the GREENLIGHT Project in terms of raising awareness of climate and the environment, supporting biodiversity, protecting natural areas, and developing environmental responsibility among students. The active participation of students in planting and caring for the saplings provided a practical learning opportunity aimed at making sustainable behaviors part of everyday life.
This joint activity also supported the “learning by doing” approach adopted by the GREENLIGHT Project, contributing to the transfer of educational activities developed on energy, environment, and sustainability into school life and the local environment.
The activity carried out by MSKU and ŞMÇAİHL aims to make a lasting contribution in terms of local greening, student participation, and long-term environmental awareness as a concrete example of the GREENLIGHT Project's understanding of environmental responsibility.
